About This Role
Rainier Flight Service is hiring a Flight Instructor to deliver high-quality flight, ground, and simulator instruction at its flight school, reporting to the Chief Flight Instructor. Instructors train enrolled students through structured Part 141 and Part 61 curricula, run introductory/discovery flights to attract new students, and prepare candidates for their FAA checkrides while upholding the school's safety and standardization requirements. Instructors manage their own schedules across a fleet that flies from early morning to midnight serving over 250 students.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Flight Instructor provides flight and ground instruction to enrolled students while maintaining the highest level of safety and standards, and conducts introductory/discovery flight lessons to encourage new prospects to enroll in the flight school.
- Additional instruction includes Biennial Flight Review (BFR) ground and flight instruction, currency and proficiency ground and flight instruction, and aircraft check-outs and sign-offs by make and model as requested by customers.
- Instructors coordinate with multiple departments to ensure a safe, efficient, and profitable operation, serve customers with high-quality service, and communicate courteously and professionally with co-workers, management, and customers.
- They help students book flight and ground appointments through the online schedule, complete logbook entries in both student and instructor logbooks, teach weekend ground school sessions as requested, and refer students to other instructors when needed to meet student goals.
- They ensure all course standards, training requirements, and flight department objectives are met for each student in each course, recommend fully-prepared students for their FAA checkride, maintain a clean and professional environment in the aircraft and company building, stay current with recommended CFI techniques and materials, monitor aircraft maintenance condition and report any squawks promptly and professionally, and carry out additional duties as assigned by the Chief Flight Instructor.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold an FAA Certificated Flight Instructor certificate for Airplane Single Engine Land (CFI, ASEL) and a current FAA medical.
- Candidates must be current and proficient to CFI Practical Test Standards in ASEL aircraft.
- They must have knowledge of, and the ability to apply, effective instructional techniques both in the classroom and in flight, along with knowledge of and the ability to apply the appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and the Oral and Practical Test Standards.
